JPIAMR 13th Call Partner Search Tool

This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 13th call - One Health interventions to prevent or reduce the development and transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

General Information

  • Type: Partner looking for project
  • Organisation: University of Gdańsk
  • Country: Poland (PL)

Research area

  • Scientific area(s):
    1. Understand the impact of interventions on development and transmission of AMR
  • One Health Setting:

    Human Health Animal Health Environment

  • Keywords:

    bacteriophages isolation phage-resistant bacteria phage characterization

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

    Our group collect phages from the environment, mainly from urban sewages, and perform their morphological, biological and genetic characterization. We are also able to obtain phage resistant mutants for further analysis and have a lot of experience in work with bacterial biofilm. I encourage you to read a few our papers (DOI: 10.3389/fmicb.2018.03326; DOI: 10.3390/ijms21176345; DOI:10.1038/s41598-020-60568-4; DOI: 10.3390/v13020318;)

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

    We are willing to participate in a project where phage resistant bacterial mutants are needed for further analysis. Testing of such mutants may be important in the context of comparison with antibiotic-resistant bacteria. We may isolate new lytic phages, characterize them, test their infection ability and obtain bacteria resistant to them. You may use such bacteria for your research. We have the opportunity to work with different bacterial strains of 2nd class biosafety level. We can try to obtain phage resistant bacteria in liquid culture or/and in biofilm.
