    The Department of Historical Atlas at the Institute of History, Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, Poland) is a team of scholars (historians, cartographers, IT) dealing with historical geography, urban history, source editions and historical mapping.

    We\'d like to indicate the possibilities and constraints of the "Public History" issue in a pan-European context. How and to what extent can such approaches like crowdsourcing or participatory GIS revolutionize historical scholarship? What is their impact on professional scholarship and the general public? What are the motivations of public historians? What they are interested in? What is the role of digital tools? Briefly speaking: in this research, we\'d like to study various approaches towards "public history" in Europe including different contexts (geographical, political), datasets (spatial, genealogical) or curation methods.
