From January 23rd to January 25th the Discipline Coordinator of the Life Sciences Unit, Dr. Marcin Liana, took part in workshops in Spain organised by the consortium ERA-NET PathoGenoMics. The activities of the consortium in the years 2004-2012 include financing of projects carried out by international research teams on the subject of infectious diseases in people. To date ERA-NET PathoGenoMics has organised three following grant competitions:
- Global methods and genome-based approaches to study bacterial and fungal human pathogens (2007),
- Applied pathogenomics: Prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of infectious diseases in humans (2009),
- Transnational pathogenomics: Prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of infectious diseases in humans (2010).
Projects which had received funding in previous competitions organised by the consortium were presented at the meeting. There was equally discussion on the process of application evaluation and ongoing project assessment, as well as the possibility of widening the thematic scope of the programme and extending the activities of the consortium for future years.
