In brief:
The concept of Cultural Encounters is highly pertinent to contemporary European life: the ongoing process of European identity making is, at its most fundamental level, the result of various forms of cultural transformation and synthesis. These processes have arisen from or are influenced by a myriad of actors, including translation of cultural expressions, intellectual exchange, ideological context, technological change, economic development, trade, war, occupation and reunification. The effects of cultural encounters impact all the way from everyday activities to the broader arenas of ideology and societal institutions.
This call and adresses one or more of the following focus areas:
- Cultural Encounters over time
- Social and political influences in relation to Cultural Encounters
- Practices of Translation, Interpretation, and Mediatisation, in relation to Cultural Encounters
Research team: composed of research teams from at least 3 countries participating in the call
Project duration: up to 3 years
